Mary was born in Bath sometime between 1859 and 1861. She married Arthur (born 1864) in 1891 and had two children, Guinevere Violet M Lovett was born in 1893 but unfortunately her other child died. Her husband was ‘a gentleman of means’ but she herself completed the 1911 census which stated she had a sick nurse and a male nurse who was a ‘temperance co-operation undertaker’ living with them to look after her sick husband.
WAR YEARS
Mary served with the Shropshire VAD from 1915 until 24/12/1918; she worked 6 hours per day except Sundays at Ardmillan House Auxiliary Hospital and Pentre Pant Cottage Hospital, around 2,200 hours a year. Mary undertook ward duties, nursing and canteen work. As well as working at these two hospitals she also spent short periods of time in 1915 working at the Winchester and Exeter Hospital.
Post War
Mary’s last known address was Greenfields, Weston Rhyn, Oswestry.
