Maria Jane Carrington was born in Minera, Denbighshire on 9 February 1886. She was the daughter of John (Stationary Engine Driver) and Winifred Carrington. In 1891 she had two older brothers, Thomas and Robert and two younger sisters Barbara and Margaret A. All were born between 1882 and 1890. Her parents employed a general servant Mary Davies, 15 years old, from Bwlygwyn.
By 1901 Maria was working for Thomas S. Thomas, an assurance superintendant, and his wife Jennet and their children Claudia 20; Arthur J. 18 at 125 Ruabon Road, Wrexham. Ten years later she was working at Morda Workhouse as an assistant nurse.
Research suggests that Maria went to Canada and married a George Roberts in about 1912. They lived in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada and had three children. Margaret Winifred (1915-2002), George Medwyn (1917 -1996) and Gladys Elizabeth (1924-1999).
Maria died in Canada on 24 September 1970.
