Margaret was born in 1864. She married a Headteacher in 1885 called Charles (1857) and had seven children of which two died. Four of her children were Charles Henry (1890) an Assistant Teacher, Percy Harold (1893) a Railway Clerk, Rosetta (1888) a Milliner and Thirza Margaret (1897) a Scholar. In 1901 she was an Assistant Teacher but she then spent time as an in-patient at a Cottage Hospital and in the 1911 Census she did not have an occupation listed.
War Years
Margaret joined Shropshire 40 VAD. From January 1916 until February 1919 she carried out ward duties and nursing at Ardmillan House Auxiliary Hospital 3 days per week and extra hours when convoys arrived. She worked an extra day at Pentre Pant Cottage Hospital from June 1917. She did not receive any pay.
Post War
By 1939 Margaret was widowed and living with her daughter Rosetta (who was also widowed) and Rosetta’s in laws at Ashville, Gobowen, Oswestry. Margaret died in 1945.
