War Years
Kathleen joined the West Riding Yorkshire VAD then transferred to Shropshire 40 VAD where she worked as a full time nurse and earned £22 per year. She served at Ardmillan House Auxiliary Hospital from 29 November 1915 until 1 April 1916. Then Kathleen was moved to De Walden Court Auxiliary Hospital at Eastbourne on 17 April 1917 where she stayed until 31 July 1917 followed by service at Pentre Pant Cottage Hospital from 5 August 1917 to 26 August 1918. Her final move was to Gledhow Hall Auxiliary Hospital, Leeds on 17 October 1918 and her records show that she was still working there after the war.
