Isabella was born in Orkney on 23/9/1878. She trained in General Nursing and Midwifery at Western Infirmary, Glasgow from 1901-1905. In 1906 she was appointed to Queen Alexandra’s Imperial Military Nursing Service. She served at the hospital in Elgin from 1906-1916 and Glasgow from 1916-1920. In 1918 she was mentioned for services to the Secretary of State.
From November 1920 – April 1921 she worked at Park Hall Military Hospital, Oswestry as Temporary Assistant Superintendent. Reports from this time described her as “An efficient and helpful assistant superintendent. Dependable and well balanced.”
Isabella remained single and died in Glasgow in 1960.
