Eleanor was born in Newport, Shropshire in 1866. She married auctioneer George Alfred (b. 1861) in 1884, and had three children; George John (b. 1886, was a solicitors clerk in 1911), Elizabeth May (b. 1887, became an assistant solicitors clerk) and Edith Gladys (b. 1893).
War Years
Eleanor had already gained her Proficiency badge before 1914 and was already a member of the Shropshire 40 VAD. From 1st May 1917 to 24th December 1919 Eleanor served at Pentre Pant as a medical and surgical nurse. She worked full time for the first 6 months until her husband was invalidated out of the 25th Royal Welsh Fusiliers. He served as a Staff Sergeant Major.
Post War
Eleanor and her family moved to 61 Roft St after the war. Eleanor died in 1940.
