Doris was born in 1889, she was born to Philip (1852-1933) clergyman for the Church of England and Ada C. (1864). In 1911 she was still living at home, she had one sister Edith W. (1880), and three brothers Philip T. (1895), Gerald A. (1897) and Robert Jb. (1901). Living with them was also a servant Ellen Whidden (1884).
War Years
Doris enrolled with the Devon 52 VAD on 3 October 1916 and was selected on 16 October 1916 as a nurse. She was sent to Park Hall Military Hospital on 13 April 1917-13 November 1917. There are no reports about Doris’s time at Park Hall. She didn’t work anywhere else with the VAD and was discharged on 12 July 1920.
Post War
In 1939 Doris was living with her widowed Mother in St. Thomas, Devon. She died in 1962 in Cheltenham leaving £429 18s to her brother Robert.
