Annie was born on the 6th November 1891 in Bolton to Richard and Mary Elizabeth Hamer. Her father unfortunately died in 1894, leaving Mary Elizabeth to work as a confectioner to support the family. Annie had two older sisters named Mary Elizabeth and Nora. The family had moved to Oswestry by 1901 and were recorded as living on 56 Roft Street.
Both Mary Elizabeth and Nora worked as assistant confectioners to their mother, whilst Annie worked as a photographer’s assistant. Annie married Professor Harry Smith Holden in 1917, who was the director of home office laboratory. The two had a son on the 10th September, 1924.
Annie passed away in 1976.
