The Royal Circus and Menagerie visited Oswestry Recreation Ground parading down the main street before the performance. For the cost of 6d to 3/- the people of the town could see ‘Daring horsemanship with the laughable interlude of 8 French clowns, ponies that perform musical chairs, the giant horse Goliath and the smallest pony in the world’.
Animals including elephants, sealions and many other animals were on show to help children ‘improve their zoological knowledge’. A pantomime was performed followed by the Cossack riding Display! Children were promised the delight of seeing ‘Pimpo’ the ‘foremost equestrian comedian and children’s friend. A master of buffoonery’.
