SOLDIERS CLUB
Lady Webb purchased the premises of Messers Rodgers and Co., Oswald Road, and converted into a Soldiers Club with the assistance of a committee of local ladies. The club’s facilities included a restaurant, billiards room, reading rooms and baths. It was described in the paper as a boon to the troops in the neighbourhood.
Lady Webb was the wife of Lieutenant-Colonel Sir Henry Webb, commander of the labour force building the camp at Park Hall.
