Kathleen Darlington was born the 21st of August 1893 to Matthew and Ann Darlington on a farm in Tixall, Staffs. Her family, along with her 8 siblings, moved between jobs with them owning a Hotel between 1901 and 1911 and then going back to farming before the war.
Kathleen trained at Berrington Military Hospital, near Shrewsbury. This was for the treatment of soldiers to injured to be treated on the front lines meaning that many of the injured treated here where in a very bad condition.
On the 20th of November 1918 Kathleen was sent to Park Hall Military Hospital just outside Oswestry, where she served until May 2019.
After the war Kathleen retired from nursing and married Richard L Thomas in Stafford in 1939, but was unfortunately widowed in the same year. She remarried in 1946 to George Leigh in passed away at the age of 87 in Chatham, Kent.
