Kate Pomeroy Shearer was born in China in 1872 to George and Georgina Shearer, her father was a physician and surgeon. By 1881 her and her parents had moved to Rodney Street, Liverpool.
In 1901 Kate Pomeroy was working as a nurse at Union Workhouse Tranmere Birkenhead and by the time World War 1 came around she was a practicing dentist which means that she would have treated injured soldiers during the war and would have specialised on jaw and teeth injuries that where very common in the trenches.
Kate passed away on the 4th June 1921 in Oswestry general Cemetery.
