Jane Ann Davies was the daughter of Benjamin Davies, a grocer originally from Llanerfyl, Powys. In 1901 Benjamin and his wife Sarah were running a grocery business from his home 2 Ash Road, Oswestry. 1911 census records 3 children, one dead and two surviving. Both were born in Oswestry; Jane was born on 7 December 1894 and Gwendolene was born on 30 March 1902.
Jane worked as a domestic for Mary Ann Mills at 62 Castle Street when she was sixteen but by 1939 she was back home with her retired father and her sister. Both Jane and Gwendolene were confectioner shopkeepers. They were both single.
Living with them in 1939 was a John R. Davies*, a land clerk born 1912. Not certain what relation he might have been to the sisters but when he died in 1962 he was buried with their mother (died August 1939) and father (died January 1946) in Oswestry Cemetery (Section x Grave 156).
Jane died in September 1964, aged 69 and she is buried in Oswestry Cemetery (section E1 grave 85) with her sister Gwendolene who died June 1974.
