Hilda was born 16 May 1892 at 2 Cavendish Rd, Barnsley, a house of 10 rooms. Her father was Richard E Griffiths (1849) a Manufacturer of stationery and also a printer and her mother was Constance (1873). As well as her parents, she lived with her brothers Llewellyn (1888) an Assistant in Business and Ivor (1894) an Apprentice. Also in the house were a Cook Annie Fox (1891) and a Housemaid Laura (1893).
War Years
Lucy joined the Shropshire VAD and worked at Ardmillan House Auxiliary Hospital from 1 August 1917 until 22 February 1919. She worked full time (4470 hours a year) and was paid her expenses only. Lucy was responsible for serving all patient meals during her time there.
Post War
After the war she returned to Barnsley and lived with her brother Llewellyn at 4 Pollitt St. until her death on 15 May 1976.
