In 1880 Oswestry Town Council bought Nos 1-12 Cross Street for road improvements to be made for the traffic to the railway station. The Nos 5, 7, 9, 11 and 13 were demolished and Glasgow House built by Mr Robert Lloyd. He died in 1897 the business was taken over by Messrs Evan Jones and William Morris and Mr E.R. Jones and called Jones , Morris and Jones until the death of Evan Jones and called Morris and Jones. William Morris was Town mayor in 1918.
